Blind Spot 2010
Blind Spot is a series of digital images and videos that create a visual code in which imagery has been enciphered using half-tone dots of varying sizes. The aim is to evoke a sense of tension associated with trying to ‘read’ or decipher the content of, and relationship between the images which have been reduced to a minimal visual symbol – a black or ‘blind’ spot.
The work is about a desire to know what cannot be known and to see what cannot be fully revealed. It reflects on the anxiety and insecurity that accompanies the denial of access to information or the inability to decipher it.
This project was assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
